David Wallace and his wood carving at Fort Victoria Country Park (2018)

The carving made by David Wallace features over 60 marine wildlife that could of been found in the Solent waters area now and over the millions of years and include fish, crocodile, seal, limpet, shark, crab and octopus.

His work was a huge visitor attraction and David would spend many hours talking to people about the carving of wildlife he created. The holm oak chosen by David was one that had fallen on the beach due to coastal erosion.
One night however, when the carving was nearly complete, the tree carving was stolen having been chainsawn into several sections, part of which was to mysteriously return a year later. We will never know if the thief was racked with guilt and had returned it or the return was for some other reason.

David, origionally from Plymouth, is a self taught wood carver and currently lives in his car in West Wight.
