I am passionate about connecting people to the natural environment, promoting environmental conservation and on the health benefits of being out of doors.

Through my environmental consultancy, PJ.elements I work with NGO's, the public sector and an increasing number of social enterprises on project development and on project evaluation. I have considerable experience on fundraising for environmental  and community organisations and specialise in grant giving Trusts and Foundations. Many of my 'people outdoors' images have been used by clients to help illustrate their websites and for evaluation reports.

I am a Chartered Environmentalist, (2009), achieved my Diploma in Fundraising in 2012 and regularly work with the consultancy Resources for Change as an Associate Consultant.

I live on the Isle of Wight and am keen on promoting the Island's UNESCO Biosphere status an accolade it achieved in 2019. In a voluntary capacity I sit on the Isle of Wight AONB Steering committee, covering the nature conservation portfolio.
Current photography projects include West Wight People and Place, Ash in the West Wight Landscape and on providing images for the Secrets of the Solent photography book.
As I transition to retirement I will be developing an environmental campaigning role of some of description, although I have yet to fully work out what that might entail!
Pete Johnstone.
